In Rajasthan Udaipur is famous as the “City of Lakes” and it boasts of splendid palaces; exquisite temples and water. These amazing granaries of water have always been the backbone of the city in terms of history, culture and economies. What some of the most famous rivers of Udaipur and around Udaipur are; allow us to explore in a little detail.

1. Lake Pichola

Of all the water sources of Udaipur, none is more famous than Lake Pichola. Lake was made in the fourteenth century by Maharana Lakha Singh. The lake is bounded with green hills and has many islands among them is Jag Mandir and the very famous Lake Palace. The city's most popular tourist attraction, the City Palace, faces the water of the lake.

Jag Mandir: This attractive palaces consist of Rajput style forming a major tourist site located in an island. It will have a museum and avails splendid views of the city.

Lake Palace: Partially extracted from water, the Lake Palace is a pompous hotel that has ever been the summer palace of the Maharana of Udaipur. Its architecture is also beautiful and its atmosphere is perfect for a honeymoon.

2. Lake Fateh Sagar

Another important lake in Udaipur is the Lake Fateh Sagar a little south of Lake Pichola. It was built in 17th century by Maharana Fateh Singh. This lake is positioned in the middle of hills and provides spectacular view over the entire city.

Fateh Sagar Island: The island in the middle of the lake is a scenic park, Nehru Museum and a boat club.

Sunset Point: It, in addition, affords splendid view of the setting sun over the Lake Fateh Sagar and the Aravalli Range.

3. Lake Badi

Rajsamand is the largest lake in all Rajasthan which is also known as Lake Badi. This was founded in the seventeenth century by Maharana Raj Singh. It is situated near some hills and is excellent for riding boats, as well as for picnicking.

Rajsamand: Rajsamand is the small town which is situated on the stunning lake bank and the town has the wonderful temples and royal palaces.

4. River Jakham

The River Jakham has it origin from the Aravalli Hills, and it passes through Udaipur. This is an important water supply source for the city and neighbor regions. As you may have noticed on your walks along the river, there is also life on the water.

Jakham Dam: This is where the Jakham Dam lies and there is always water sport and picnicking activities around the river.

5. River Doodh Ganga

Another significant river on the list which passes through Udaipur is the River Doodh Ganga. Chandrabhaga is one of the tributaries of River Chambal having the artificially created beautiful surroundings.

Doodh Ganga Dam: This location is among the major tourist attractions.
